Blog on Twitter

ashtal786 writing about twitter on blog.

I just tweeted what I am doing right now.

So...What's Twitter Anyway?
Twitter is an information network made up of 140-character messages called Tweets. It's a new and easy way to discover the latest news (“what’s happening”) related to subjects you care about.

&… How is it Useful?
Twitter contains information you will find valuable. Messages from users you choose to follow will show up on your homepage for you to read. It’s like being delivered a newspaper whose headlines you’ll always find interesting – you can discover news as it’s happening, learn more about topics that are important to you, and get the inside scoop in real time.

The simple answered can be found on Twitter Help Center- Twitter 101: How should I get started using Twitter?

Twitter vs. Blackboard and Twitter vs. In-class Discussion
The most significant benefit of twitter is the convenience- we don’t need to commute; we don’t need visit in our course blackboard page after clicking many pages, just tweet from your cell phone or any other device having internet connectivity.
In a classroom discussion, sometimes students hesitate and feel nervous when asking questions to the professors, or even in group discussion. But they can easily write it down, don’t have to spend too many letters, just 140 characters. You don't even need stay in the most boring in-class discussion, just tweet from ANYWHERE with live internet. You don't need to try understand face exression in a group discussion, just TWEET with smiley face when you understand the concepts. :)

Blackboard is definately a great tool, but in case of discussion. it's not that much convenient or useful as Twitter...
